Getting Here
By Car
Located in the central Rocky Mountains of Colorado, just 100 miles West of Denver, Vail is easily accessible by car.
East:
Coming from the east, Vail is generally accessed via Interstate 70 through Denver. From Denver, take I-70 west through the mountains. Vail is less than 100 miles away from Denver.
West:
Traveling eastbound take I-70 through Grand Junction and Glenwood Springs. From Glenwood Springs, Vail is a 50-minute drive.
South:
From the south, there are a variety of routes to Vail. From southern Colorado, take I-25 north to Denver and then go west on I-70 for approximately 100 miles. For a scenic route, take Highway 522 to Highway 17. From there, the trip to Vail winds through the Arkansas River Valley, over the Continental Divide and through Leadville. Vail is an hour drive from Leadville on a scenic byway.
North:
From northern Colorado, take I-25 south to Denver. From Denver take I-70 west, where Vail is a 100 mile drive through the mountains.
By Air
Fly into Denver or Vail/Eagle County Regional Airport
DENVER: The award-winning Denver International Airport is only a 2-hour drive from Vail. The spectacular drive from the airport into the Rockies and over the Continental Divide is an experience in itself.

Vail Parking Options
Parking for the Town of Vail & Getting to the Gerald R Ford Amphitheater
FOUR + FOR FREE – CARPOOL PROGRAM
Coming with a group to the Ford Park or Vail Athletic Fields/Soccer Lot? The FOUR + FOR FREE carpool program offers free parking to those who arrive with four or more in a vehicle!
Policies:
- Guests utilizing the Ford Park lot or the Vail Athletic Fields/Soccer lot during paid parking events who arrive with four or more people in their vehicle will have their parking validated at entrance.
- To receive the free parking validation, guests must speak with the parking attendant or push the call button at entrance.
- A schedule of paid parking events can be found at this link.
- First come, first served.
BUSES
Vail Transit:
For a schedule of event bus run times, visit this link.
Event buses run frequently between Lionshead Transit Center, Vail Village Transportation Center, and the Ford lot during paid parking events. ADA carts will be offered from the Ford Park lot bus stop to the Gerald Ford Amphitheater upon request during.
ECO Transit:
The Eagle Valley Transportation Authority approved new fare-free service routes, as well as added route frequency. If you will be traveling from down valley into Vail, check out bus route times and routes at this link.
BIKE OR WALK
Many of the Gerald Ford Amphitheater events will host a free bike valet. There are also Shift Bike stations around the valley for a fun commute to events. You can learn more at this link. The Ford Park, Gerald Ford Amphitheater is a 10-minute walk from the Vail Village Parking Structure.
PARKING
There are many parking options available. The Vail Village and Lionshead parking structures offer free event parking with frequent event bus service. The Ford Park and Vail Athletic Fields/Soccer Lots are $15 upon entry during paid parking events.
