Dallas Symphony returning to Bravo! Vail this summer
February 16, 2023The Dallas Symphony Orchestra will return to the Bravo! Vail Music Festival this summer, after last year’s festival cancellation because of the coronavirus pandemic.
DSO music director Fabio Luisi will make his Bravo! Vail debut in concerts on June 30 (with violin soloist James Ehnes) and July 1 (with pianist Alessio Bax). Principal pops conductor Jeff Tyzik will lead three pops concerts, on July 2, 4 and 5.
The DSO has been performing at the Colorado festival most summers since 1999, as other guest orchestras have shifted in the lineup. This year’s festival also includes concerts by the New York Philharmonic (with its music director, Jaap van Zweden, who previously helmed the DSO, and guest conductor Bramwell Tovey), the Philadelphia Orchestra (with music director Yannick Nézét-Séguin, principal guest conductor designate Nathalie Stutzmann and guest conductor Stéphane Denève) and the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields (led by music director Joshua Bell). The festival, running June 24 through Aug. 4, also includes chamber music concerts and educational programs.
