Smith says Carrot Revolution takes its name from a quote attributed to Cezanne in a novel by Emile Zola, which states: “The day will come when a freshly observed carrot will start a revolution.”

The evening's performance will comprise seamless connections between movements and difference pieces and smaller works, including Carrot Revolution. The remaining repertoire will be announced at a later date.
Aizuri Quartet was awarded Grand Prize and Concert Artists Guild Management Prize at the 2018 M-Prize Chamber Arts Competition, and top prizes at the 2017 Osaka International Chamber Music Competition and 2015 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition.
Aizuri Quartet (string quartet) was awarded Grand Prize and Concert Artists Guild Management Prize at the 2018 M-Prize Chamber Arts Competition, and top prizes at the 2017 Osaka International Chamber Music Competition and 2015 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition. The all-female ensemble was the 2017-18 MetLiveArts String Quartet-in-Residence at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This season the Quartet made debut appearances at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall as part of the CAG Winners’ Series. Its debut album, featuring new works written for it by five American composers, was nominated for a 2019 Grammy.
