Bravo! Vail's Symphonic Commissioning Project

In 2021, Bravo! Vail deepened our commitment to supporting living composers and their work by launching the Symphonic Commissioning Project. The new works will be written for, and performed by our resident orchestras. All performances are meant to be attended by the composers who, along with musicologists and other speakers, will present educational programs for audiences of all ages throughout the community.

In 2026, Bravo! Vail commissions the world premiere of Prayer for the Living by Aaron Jay Kernis, featuring McDermott, and celebrates its fifth Symphonic Commissioning Project with co-commissioned works by John Adams (in partnership with The Philadelphia Orchestra) and Caroline Mallonee (in partnership with the New York Philharmonic). Four additional works by living composers receive Bravo! Vail premieres.
