Program Notes

On this day, our nation
commemorates and
celebrates the 250th
anniversary of the signing of
the Declaration of Independence. At the
same time, Colorado—the Centennial
State—marks the 150th anniversary
of its entrance into the Union. Today’s
program is a musical salute to heartfelt
American voices: from Aaron Copland
to Ray Charles, film scores to military
marches. Bravo! Vail honors the iconic
landscapes, independent spirit, and
legacy of dedicated service that define
our country, and our state
