July 8: The Philadelphia Orchestra | E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial In Concert: Film With Live Score
Being new to Bravo! Vail Music Festival and being a new mom, I am so excited to share the music of Bravo! Vail and my love of E.T. with my daughter, Sage. Seeing the movie through the eyes of my daughter and to experience the music of the Philadelphia Orchestra will be a night to remember. I remember going to the theater and watching E.T. when I was a kid, and I’m looking forward to the nostalgic memories and creating new ones.

July 11: Chamber | Emerson String Quartet
Beethoven’s Opus 131 string quartet is an epic journey and stands as a pillar of the string quartet canon. To be in the room when the world’s most famous string quartet performs this piece will truly be an honor.

July 14: The Philadelphia Orchestra | Shaham plays Mozart
Mozart’s Violin Concerto No.3 will always hold a special place in my heart. During my senior year of high school, this concerto was my “project”. As most musicians, I spent hours learning the intricacies and phrasing that Mozart wrote and loved every minute of it. This was also the last concerto I learned to play with my violin teacher. Unfortunately, she passed away this year, and I know that when I hear this piece being played by the wonderfully talented, Gil Shaham, I will remember all the wonderful times I spent playing this piece.

July 15: The Philadelphia Orchestra | Bronfman, Prokofiev & Tchaikovsky
Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2
Yefim Bronfman will make Prokofiev’s second piano concerto come alive like no one else can. The strength of his sound combined with his lightening fast fingers will be awesome.

Mason Bates: Alternative Energy
When you walk into the amphitheater for a Bravo! Vail concert, you expect you’re going to hear the great classics: Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Mahler, and the list goes on. I am so excited to witness the performance of Alternative Energy because, the composer, Mason Bates uses electronica to explore and enhance the symphony orchestra, while telling a story and taking the audience through different time periods. This performance is going to be spectacular, and I cannot wait to see how Bravo’s audience responds to this new type of music that they may have not heard before.
